We had a very enjoyable annual dinner in a local hotel with current members and many ex members and friends of the choir over the years attending. This ended with a spirited rendition of numerous well known Gaelic and Scots songs – helped by the odd dram or two!
The Choir took part in a Christmas Concert at Fairlie Parish Church.
The Choir had a very enjoyable and eventful day at Ghlaschu National Mòd 2019. Despite having new members who have never sung at a Mòd before, we held our own among much bigger, well established choirs. In particular our performance of ‘Santiago’ written by Gilliebride MacMillan went down very well with the audience. We were joint second for our Gaelic language pronunciation. Well done to all choir members and thanks for all the hard work, especially to our Conductor Eilidh Johnston.
The Choir took part in a joint performance with the Largs Community Choir on Friday 21st June at the Green Shutters Bistro, to celebrate Make Music Day. Donations were made to support choir member Morag Graham who cut off her hair to raise funds for North Ayrshire Cancer Care and Lupus UK.
Largs Gaelic Choir had a successful day at Oban Provincial Mòd. The Ladies Choir won their section with their rendition of two Gaelic songs – Oidhche Mhath Leibh and Eilean Arainn. The first is a song of blessing, while Eilean Arainn is a song of praise and longing for the Isle of Arran. The adjudicators described their performance as “ buoyant” and “ gorgeous” and particularly praised the arrangement of Eilean Arrain by Eila Handyside, who is a longtime member of the Largs Gaelic Choir.
The day in Oban concluded with a ceilidh in the Oban Bay Hotel.
The Largs The Choir entertained the members of the Largs Lunch Club.
The choir took part in a concert in St Johns Church in Stevenston. It was in aid of HCPT Group 207 which takes children/young people with learning / behavioural / disability / illness / social problems to Lourdes at Easter.
The Choir competed at the Stirling Provincial Mod and were awarded joint first place in the Ladies Choral Singing section with excellent marks for both singing and Gaelic performances.
Several Choir members competed at the Mòd. Margaret Bell won the Ali Abassi Memorial Cup for poetry recitation. Largs Gaelic Choir Quartet ( Linda McCallum, Marie Ann McCord, Colin Fisher and Gus MacDonald) won the Stornoway Gaelic Choir Cup for quartet singing and the Marshall Stormonth Memorial Trophy for the highest marks in music.

Choir member Margaret Bell won the Ali Abassi Memorial Cup for poetry recitation.
The choir had a very enjoyable Night Out at Woody’s Restaurant, Largs
The Choir held a Burns Supper in St Mary’s Church Hall, Largs.
The Choir had Christmas Dinner in Woody’s followed by a cèilidh.
The Choir held a free pre-Mòd concert in St Columba’s Episcopal Church Hall.
The Choir competed at the Oban Provincial Mòd. The Choir hosted an informal ceilidh at the Oban Bay Hotel on Saturday evening and several other choirs joined us there.
The Choir competed in the Renfrewshire Cuach Competition in the Wynd Centre, Paisley.
The Choir held an open evening with refreshments at St Columba’s Episcopal Church Hall, Aubery Crescent, Largs.
The Choir entertained the residents of Hutton Park Residential Home. This was followed by our Annual Dinner at Woody’s Reataurant where a presentation was made to our retiring conductor Elspeth Howie.
The Choir competed at Oban Provincial Mod and gained second places in both the mixed choir competition and the puirt-a-beul competition. In the evening we hosted an informal ceilidh where we were joined by members of the Oban and Taynult choirs.
The Choir joined with Largs Players for a perfomance of “The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil” by John McGrath at Barrfields, Largs.
The Choir sang with Maggie MacInnes at a Concert for Beith Orr Park Neighbourhood Watch in Beith Community Centre.
The Choir gave a concert for the Dunoon Branch of An Comunn Gàidhealach
The Choir held its Burns Supper in Clark Memorial Churh Hall, Largs.
The Choir sang at a concert hosted by Clann Gaidhlig in the Wynd Centre Paisley.
The Choir gave a charity performance in M & Co Largs for Cancer Research
The Choir entertained the residents at Hutton Park followed by Christmas Dinner at Woody’s Restaurant.
The Choir won the Margrat Duncan Competition outright gaining the Margrat Duncan Memorial Trophy, the John McNicol Memorial Trophy for highest marks in Gaelic and the Staffinders Quaich for highest marks in music. The An Comunn Silver Baton for the conductor of the winning choir went to Elspeth Howie.
The Choir held a ceilidh dance in the Willowbank Hotel, Greenock Road, Largs
The Choir took part in a concert hosted by Lochwinnoch Arts Festival Committee.
The Choir sang at Woody’s Restaurant as part of the Largs Live programme.
The Choir competed at the Oban Provincial Mòd. We won the Puirt-a-beul competion and in the Mixed Voices competiton we took Second place but also took the prize for the highest mark in Gaelic.
Choir members took part in a recording of Songs of Praise at Paisley Abbey.
